Our Mission

Our mission is to help strengthen families and support individuals impacted by addiction and mental health challenges by creating opportunities to connect through outdoor experiences. We do this by hosting free and low-cost community activities each month for individuals seeking to improve their mental health through time outdoors, as well as by providing private outdoor recreation activities for addiction, mental health, and autism treatment centers. In addition, we offer activities for community groups, businesses, mental health providers, and other organizations looking to promote well-being through outdoor engagement. Learn more about our community activities below, or click “See Activities” to sign up and receive free tickets to our next event.

What is a Community Activity?

Community activities are activities hosted by Utah Outdoor Therapies are free hikes that are open to the community every month! Research has demonstrated that time spent outdoors engaging in physical activity improves mental and physical health. Regular exercise can improve mood, strengthen bodies, reduce feelings of depression, anxiety and stress. Especially when outdoors physical activity has been proven to be an effective coping mechanism for life challenges. Sadly, many barriers exist that prevent people from spending time outdoors. Barriers of cost, limited access to gear, lack of education regarding activities, lack of awareness of communities that spend time outdoors, time restraints and travel can make it extremely difficult for individuals to spend time outdoors. Utah Outdoor Therapies strives to remove these barriers by providing monthly free monthly activities and other low-cost activities. We provide all the planning, equipment, staff, training and friends needed to have a healing experience outdoors. Learn more about us below or click "See Activities" to sign up and get a free spot at our next community activity.
